Who Taught You How to Love?
The Love Project
Originally conceived in 2014 with an initial workshop performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, The Love Project is a multimedia performance work that explores the question: Who taught you how to love?
Through poetry, live musical accompaniment, embodied storytelling, and interviews with respondents reflecting on the people, places, and experiences that have shaped their understanding of how to remain open to the profoundness of deep and meaningful connection in a world that is forever adding more pressure to our relationships to ourselves, each other, and the land on which we stand.
Returning to this work in a world remade by COVID-19, the climate crisis, economic turmoil, social media, and political disillusionment, is an opportunity to engage audiences in dialogue about how we return to each other when isolation has become our default and why it’s worth.
The Love Project reminds us why we need each other.
